Mindful Eating: Transforming Our Relationship to Food

Do you use food to numb and soothe your feelings? Are you tired of obsessing about food and weight? Explore a mindful and compassionate approach to food. Drawing on the work of Dr. Jan Chozen Bays and others we will use mindfulness meditations, exercises and discussion to explore body, heart and mind hunger. The next Course will run Eight Thursday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Langara College’s Broadway and Ash location. An all day session is scheduled for Sunday, June 10, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) to Prevent Depression Relapse with Deborah Prieur, BSW, MA and Keri Bjornson MA, RCC. Eight Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 pm at Pacific Mountain Centre (Dunbar & 17th Ave) in Vancouver.

If you experience low mood or find yourself troubled by negative thoughts this group offers an integration of mindfulness practices and cognitive therapy that research shows can prevent future episodes of low mood/depression. During the course we will develop new skills to help prevent future relapses, become familiar with the behaviour of the mind, and learn to relate differently to the challenges of negative thinking, low mood, difficult emotions and body sensations.
